April 29, 2021

Dear Parents,

Summer school dates are June 14 - July 15, Mon. - Thurs., from 8am - 2pm. Before and after care is available. Phone the office to register or for more information.

Welcome back to Ms. Tierney who returns to OLC on Mon., May 3. We’re looking forward to seeing her here again! A great big thank you to Ms. Deja Anderson for all her hard work over the past few months as Ms. Tierney’s substitute teacher. We appreciate it — and especially for teaching the students how to play chess!

Parent volunteers are needed to help with Olympic Day (an outdoor activity day for grades 1 - 8) on Friday, May 21, and also for an 8th grade outdoor picnic on Monday, May 24. Email me (fzarate@olc-school.org) or phone Mrs. Avalos in the office if you can help out: 708 652-0262 ext. 201. Due to COVID-19, we cannot accept food donations this year for Olympic Day. Each student in grades 1 - 8 is asked to contribute $3 for the cost of lunch.

Reminder: We welcome parent volunteers, but you must comply with Archdiocese requirements. Please contact the school office if you have questions.

Registration for the 2021-2022 school year is open. Refer a new family and you can have your tuition waived for one month next school year (certain conditions apply). If you need financial assistance, please fill out the FACTS application. Funds are limited.

Treats were donated to OLC this week by the Town of Cicero. Teach your children not to be a litterbug! Keep Cicero clean and join the town wide volunteer clean-up efforts on Sat., May 1, at 9am at 1634 S. Laramie (parking lot) or on Sat., May 8, at 9am at 3400 S. 54th Ave. (parking lot).

Important dates:

Tuesday, May 4: mandatory confirmation practice at 7pm in the church. The confirmation candidate and his or her sponsor should attend. If the sponsor cannot be there, ONE parent must attend. Make sure your confirmation form is returned and the fee is paid.

Friday, May 7: confirmation is at 7pm in the church. The child’s sponsor and two guests may attend.

Saturday, May 8: first holy Communion at 9am in the church. Each family will have one pew to accommodate the student and four guests.
