Dear OLC Families,

The next two weeks will be very busy, but exciting times at OLC!

********Tonight is a Parent Meeting at 6:00 PM in the Church********

Important Parent Meeting TONIGHT

Tonight at 6:00 PM, we will be hosting a very important parent meeting in church.  We will highlight all of the reasons why Our Lady of Charity School is the best place to be for our students!  This meeting will also introduce our tuition for the 2018-2019 school year.  There are some important tuition changes that you may benefit from hearing the reasons for.  We hope to see you there!

open house

Open House January 28, 2018

This year, we will have our open house on Sunday January 28, 2018.  We will begin with Mass at 9 AM and then showcase our classrooms from 10 AM to Noon.  Students must be in their classroom from 10 AM to 11 AM.  As in previous years, we will have early registration for the 2018-2019 school year.  This year, you will be given an opportunity to register even before the Open House.  You will receive more information soon.  We need parents to assist with this exciting morning!  If you would be willing to help, please let Mr. Priest know.  This time can count toward your volunteer commitment.

OLC Winter Brews

On Tuesday, January 23rd there will be a Parents’ Night Out event at Lagunitas Brewing Company Chicago! Lagunitas has donated their Tap Room to us for the evening from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Please register HERE for OLC Winter Brews ASAP! So far we have over 100 parents, family, and friends RSVP’d.  Admission will cost $5 and beers will be $6. ALL net proceeds go to OLC!  Space is still available, RSVP today!

Snowball 2018!

Snowball kids3 more weeks before the Snowball Dinner/Dance takes place on Saturday, February 3rd at the Crystal Sky Banquet Hall. We have a few tables available, but they are selling fast.  Early bird specials of $550 for a table of 10 or $60 per person will end on January 31st. After that tickets will be $75 per person. You can purchase them on our Eventbrite page or at the end of each mass, at the rectory or school office.  We are now accepting credit/debit card purchases here today both for dinner and raffle tickets.

Childcare will be provided FREE of charge at the same location as the dinner/dance.  There is limited childcare space.  For that reason, you MUST register you children BEFORE the event. There will be no exception due to banquet hall rules.  The ages for childcare are Pre-k to age 12.

Donations for auction items are coming in slow…to date we have about 18 items…. Last year if you’ll remember, everyone came together, and we were able to collect 130 items! Fr. Sergio, I am confident that donations will start coming in faster than we can handle.  For that reason, we are still seeking volunteers. And again, just to give you a comparison, last year 18 volunteers signed up, so far, to-date we have 6. Just as an FYI, if you, the parents, cannot volunteer because of work or other reasons, you can send you teenage sons and daughters, aunts/uncles, etc. and we will count them towards volunteer hours.  We have plenty of work for everyone, please see me for more information.

Fr. Sergio, as you know, one of our goals with this year’s fundraiser is to expand our efforts to raise funds, to expand beyond our community and to expand to all age groups.  That’s one of the reason’s many of you now know Frio and Fria Snowball, we’ve added fundraising on Ebay, Facebook, etc. and we want to continue to make this fun and exciting for everyone.  So, having said that, how many of you have heard of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? Raise your hand.  For those of you who don’t know what it is…………..The Snowball committee together with the OLC youth group have decided to do something similar.  This is going to be fun and funny….we are calling it The OLC Hot Cocoa Bucket Challenge and it will be launched tomorrow after the last mass.  All I can say is…. watch for it on our Facebook page….it’s going to be awesome!!
